What Can We Do About Gas Prices

Clearly gas prices are out of control and despite the traditional theory that either an abundant supply or lower demand will fix the problem, it doesn't seem to be the solution we need. So what can we do about gas prices?

Many people are moving smaller, more fuel-efficient automobiles. Other drivers don't think an extra $10 or so every time they fill up is worthy of a lifestyle change. Large vehicles, including luxury SUVs, remain as popular as ever. Some people have even decided to boycott buying gas from the two biggest oil companies, EXXON and MOBIL. These people believe that if the big guys are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. The problem with this idea is, it only works if millions of people do it. It doesn't work if only a few people do it. So the question remains, what can we do?

Most people will make you believe that drilling for oil domestically will solve the problem. Other people will say that we need to build more refineries. A few people seem to think that lowering the taxes will do the trick. Politicians embrace these remedies, but the only thing that is happening is, we are deeper and deeper in this big mess. Now gas prices are so high that we simply can't afford to wait for big oil companies to get off their duff and drill for domestic oil. We know that lowering taxes won't work, because retailers will pick up the slack rather than pass the savings on to consumers. And seriously, can we afford to wait for more refineries to be built? How will that lower the costs?

Well, somewhere, quietly in the garage or backyard of someone who got finally fed up with the gas prices going up, there is a regular kind of person solving the problem for himself. He knows exactly what we can do about gas prices. He knows there is absolutely no reason why any new car, any used car, any SUV or pick up truck should have to fill its tank with gas costing more than a few pennies per gallon. He also knows there is absolutely no reason at all why any new or used car, SUV or truck shouldn't be getting at least 40 miles per gallon! He's solved the problem for his family, and he only spent about $100 on materials to do it. He's not a genius. He's not a scientist or engineer. He's just a regular kind of person like you and me. But he's someone who finally said, "Enough!"

So, what can we do about gas prices, other than pay the tyrant oil companies anything they want for gas? Obviously we can do exactly what this guy did in his own garage. No, he's not creating bio fuel. His car doesn't smell like french fries when he drives down the road. In fact, he doesn't smell like anything at all. He doesn't even use any kind of secret additive gimmick. You simply wouldn't believe what he uses, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how efficient it really is.
