Lowest Gas Prices
Today and every day it seems everyone you meet is walking around
just scratching their heads, asking why are gas prices going to go
up? After all, aren't they high enough already? Every day, we can
literally watch the gas prices rise higher and higher. And it's a
hard thing to have to sit back and watch, asking yourself: "will
gas prices ever go down?"
We are used to watching the prices merely creeping up. But now it
seems they are in a nascaar race, completely out of control. It's
a serious and very scary problem which is creating a painful
ripple effect across the country and across the entire globe.
The burden of the high cost of oil follows us everywhere. We turn
on the news only to hear that the fuel companies are all making
jaw dropping profits. It's as if they've taken us all hostage. And
we feel imprisoned because we have no options left; our only
choice is to keep paying those ridiculous oil tyrants outrageous
and inflated gas prices. And we end up only digging our way deeper
into the pit of oil dependency.
Don't kid yourself into thinking once demand goes down, the prices
will also go down. Gas prices are going to continue to go up.
That's a cold hard fact motorist can expect gas prices to continue
rising.
World gas prices are also high. That's because world oil prices
are above $120 a barrel. And that is what is responsible for
driving gasoline and diesel prices to all time historical record
highs. Typically, in spring, we see gas prices go up. That is
always followed up with increased driving during the summer. The
end result is increased fuel demand pushing the price you pay at
the pump even higher.
On average we are paying about 73 cents more per gallon than at
this time last year. That means overall, our weekly gas spending
has increased about 46% per household. Ouch!
The question remains: what can we do about gas prices? Use these
fuel saving tips:
1. Don't drive aggressively - you'll save up to 20%. All vehicles
lose fuel efficiency at speeds over 65 miles per hour. Driving 65
instead of 75 will save you at least 13%.
2. Close your windows. It's a no brainer that using your vehicle's
air conditioner increases fuel cost by about 13%. But if you
simply roll up your windows and use the flow through ventilation,
you'll save money.
3. Carry cargo inside your vehicle instead of on top of your
vehicle. Cargo on top of your vehicle increases wind resistance as
well as fuel consumption.
4. Don't idle. An idle vehicle gets 0 miles per gallon.
5. Regular vehicle maintenance can save you up to 50%. Many people
overlook maintenance items such as dirty air filters and tire
pressure. Paying attention to these two things alone can save you
another 13%.
